How many people does it take to un-jam a copier?
Today was fun! Brittany and I spent most of the morning making copies and putting together our site word game. We helped with the math Dice Addition Game. I learned that when there are rewards or a winner involved, all the students want to just collect as many chips as they can so they can win. Also, a student argued with me that 8 was larger than 10. I took him to the number line grid and showed him that 8 was less than 10 and he still argued with me. I took him back to his seat and did not give him a chip.
Brittany and I took forever making copies today. It should have been a simple task, but it was not. We felt like fools, but we got it done and it was ok.
I use a laminator for the first time today! I think they are really neat!
The answer to the above question is 5....

Hahaha I fondly remember trying to learn how to use the copy machine! Sometimes it can be sooo tricky.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the point about rewards and everyone just wanting to get the prize. It seems the same in my classroom too, but one thing that is kind of nice is that each of my students helps each other to reach the goal.
Hope you have a happy Friday!
I like the idea that you used for your lesson that the class was working on. I taught that lesson for my class and it is neat to see the different way that you did the same lesson!
ReplyDeleteOh my, that copier gave us all kinds of trouble! This experience definitely showed us how important it is to have a good relationship with other staff members in the school. There were two other people there helping Mrs. Fouts in no time. I really like the environment of this school. The staff is very friendly.
